I'm a total science nerd, so when I first started researching peptides for my podcast, I went down the rabbit hole—and never came back. The more I learned, the more fascinated I became by how these tiny chains of amino acids act as signaling molecules, helping the body communicate, adapt, and function more efficiently. Every peptide has a different job. Some, like GLP-1 and GIP agonists, support appetite regulation and metabolic health. Others, like BPC-157 and TB-500, are being studied for their potential roles in tissue repair and recovery. Peptides such as CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, and Tesamorelin stimulate growth hormone release, while MOTS-c and SS-31 are being investigated for their effects on mitochondrial health and cellular energy. We still have so much to learn, but the science is incredibly exciting. The Recovery Peptide
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is one of the most talked-about peptides for recovery. It has been studied primarily in animal models for its potential role in supporting tissue repair, tendon and ligament healing, gut health, and reducing inflammation. Many athletes and active individuals are interested in BPC-157 because of its potential to support the body's natural healing processes after injury or intense training.
Personally, I have seen it heal my stomach’s gut and help me recover from workouts much faster.

The Mobility Peptide
TB-500 is a synthetic version of a naturally occurring peptide involved in tissue repair. Research suggests it may help support muscle recovery, flexibility, wound healing, and healthy inflammatory responses. It is often paired with BPC-157 for individuals focused on recovery from injuries or surgery.
I like to think of it as the “refresh peptide”. It’s like hitting the refresh button on your browser-but for your body.

People often explore it for supporting muscle recovery, body composition, sleep quality, exercise performance, and healthy aging. Better sleep is one of the most commonly reported benefits.
This is my absolute favorite peptide! It makes me sleep like a baby while making my workouts feel easy peasy. Love this combo!

The Visceral Fat Peptide
Tesamorelin is a growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) analog that is FDA-approved for reducing excess abdominal fat in certain people living with HIV. It is also being studied for its effects on visceral fat, body composition, liver fat, and metabolic health under physician supervision.

MOTS-c is a naturally occurring mitochondrial peptide that has generated excitement because of its role in cellular energy production. Early research suggests it may help support insulin sensitivity, metabolic flexibility, exercise performance, and healthy aging. Human research is still developing.

SS-31 targets the mitochondria—the tiny powerhouses inside our cells. Researchers are investigating its potential to improve cellular energy production, reduce oxidative stress, and support heart, muscle, and brain function. It is one of the most exciting peptides in longevity research.

Epitalon has become popular in longevity circles because of research investigating its effects on cellular aging and telomeres. Scientists are studying whether it may support healthy sleep patterns, antioxidant defenses, immune function, and healthy aging, though much of the evidence remains preliminary.

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper peptide best known for skin and hair health. Research suggests it may support collagen production, wound healing, skin elasticity, hair growth, and healthy inflammatory responses. It is commonly found in both injectable and topical forms.

The Metabolic Health Peptides
This family includes medications such as semaglutide, tirzepatide, and retatrutide (currently under investigation). These therapies work by mimicking hormones involved in appetite regulation, blood sugar control, and energy balance. Under medical supervision, they have transformed the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes and continue to be studied for additional benefits related to cardiovascular and metabolic health.
These can get a bad reputation because of mis use and mis information. They can be so beneficial in many aspects when used correctly. They can be micro or macrodosed.

The Fat Metabolism Peptide
Originally developed from a fragment of human growth hormone, AOD-9604 is being studied for its potential effects on fat metabolism without the broader effects of growth hormone. It is often discussed in the context of weight management alongside healthy nutrition and exercise.
Coenzymes: what they are and how they differ
Coenzymes are small organic “helper molecules” that enzymes need in order to do their jobs. Think of enzymes as machines and coenzymes as rechargeable batteries or adapters that allow those machines to actually function. Without the right coenzyme, many metabolic reactions simply slow down or stop.
The key difference between coenzymes comes down to what they do and where they come from:
Some coenzymes act as electron carriers (helping move energy around the cell).
Others act as chemical group donors (helping build or break down molecules).
Some are derived directly from vitamins, meaning your diet plays a major role in whether you have enough.
Others are more specialized and involved in specific pathways like energy production or detoxification.
In simple terms: enzymes do the work, coenzymes make the work possible.

The energy coenzyme
NAD⁺ is one of the most important molecules in the body. It helps convert food into usable energy (ATP) inside the mitochondria. It also plays a role in DNA repair and cellular signaling. NAD⁺ levels naturally decline with age, which is why it’s heavily studied in longevity science.

The metabolic accelerator
FAD works alongside NAD⁺ in energy production, especially in the Krebs cycle and fatty acid oxidation. It’s derived from riboflavin (vitamin B2). FAD helps shuttle electrons through the mitochondrial energy chain, making it essential for sustained energy output.

The metabolic “hub”
CoA is central to how the body processes fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. It helps form acetyl-CoA, which is the key entry point into the Krebs cycle. Without CoA, the body can’t efficiently turn food into energy or build important molecules like cholesterol and hormones.

The neurotransmitter coenzyme
BH4 is critical for producing neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and nitric oxide. It also plays a role in immune function and blood vessel health. Low BH4 levels can affect mood, cognition, and vascular function.

The master antioxidant coenzyme
Glutathione is often called the body’s “master antioxidant” because it plays a central role in protecting cells from oxidative stress and damage. Unlike many antioxidants you get from food, your body actually makes glutathione on its own using amino acids (cysteine, glycine, and glutamate). It helps recycle other antioxidants like vitamins C and E, supports detoxification pathways in the liver, and plays a major role in immune function and cellular repair.
One of the most important things about glutathione is that it acts like a cellular cleanup system—helping neutralize free radicals, bind to toxins, and escort them out of the body. When glutathione levels are strong, cells tend to function more efficiently and recover more effectively from stress. Researchers are also studying its role in aging, inflammation, and chronic disease, since oxidative stress is a common thread in many health conditions.
While not a coenzyme in the classic energy-transfer sense like NAD⁺ or FAD, glutathione works so closely with enzymatic systems that it is often discussed in the same category of essential cellular helpers.
Coenzymes are the “hidden machinery” of metabolism. You don’t see them working, but every bit of energy production, hormone balance, detoxification, and brain chemistry depends on them. When they’re optimized—through nutrition, cellular health, and sometimes targeted supplementation—the entire system runs more efficiently.
